Looks like I wasn’t the only one to make the connection. “Minecraft Going Lego – Gamerplex” I love this idea, so hard.

In an act of unprecedented, even for me, geekery, I began playing Minecraft. Now, I know this isn’t a new game, and I’d even seen it before, but had no interest. I’m not sure what finally sold me. I think it was the ability to gather large amounts of raw materials. I guess the “gatherer” part of my instinct is strong. Or maybe I just love digital hoarding. At any rate, I started playing and am loving it.

It occurs to me, that what is fun about Minecraft, is the same thing that is fun about Legos. It really stirred up that same childlike sense of creativity, exploration and possibility that I remember feeling when sitting down and dumping out a huge tub of Lego pieces.
